santa fe, new mexico - invited
perched high on a bluff north of santa fe, this project was designed as a place of contrast and contemplation. prior to entering the house, one encounters a colorful oasis in the moorish inspired courtyard. runnels of water, clad in colored glass tiles create a grid on the golden groundplane. within, flowering crab apples, set off with white marble, provide relief from the desert sun. the runnels merge at the intersections spilling water into central wells. contrasting this inward oriented courtyard are the back gardens. a pools and a roof top lawn anchor the foreground and set up expansive views out to the native landscape.
