sa07 genetigrama
gaia, portugal, 2001 - second prize
one program, two sites. two different objects, but the same. we consider them as twin sisters. being twins, their genetic code is the same, but their personality becomes different as the genetic information is only a part of their formation. other layers of social information, economic, etc. complete the new building. the insertion of the same code – program – in two different cells – sites – is like cloning urban entities. this genetic process – in vitro – works like a global process of re-programming, manipulation of different functional data. on the end, its on the local implant – in vivo – that the process shapes itself. the mutations to the general code are understood as functional adaptations to the new environment.
