Wooden building in Bolzano
Bolzano - shortlisted
The building is spread over ten floors above ground and a basement. The latter and the first two floors are designed with a reinforced concrete structure, so as to form the base of the entire building, and separate the upper floors from the ground for which a wooden structure is provided (CLT, Cross Laminated Timber). The vertical elements of the façade are made of larch wood and develop about 55 cubic meters of wood, or a number equal to about 11 trees, to be replanted in the park. The ground floor and the first floor host libraries, meeting points and relax areas opened to the people of the neighborhood. The glass walls which characterize the two floors increase the visual and functional permeability between the interior, the park and the surrounding squares.
