In order to facilitate planning approval, our client offered to implement the design of a small courtyard that provided side access to the proposed new office building and is also used by the adjacent business premises. The design proposal offers a functional, share space for vehicles and pedestrians, providing a recreational outdoor area for the employees and visitors of the two buildings. Given the enclose nature of the site, with limited sun lighting, crucial was the choice of appropriate planting as well as suitable materials to soften and brighten up the area. The design concept for a comfortable and relaxing seating area was inspired by the past of Southwark as London historic leather district.
