Bureside Hornings
Bureside
This Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) was prepared to inform the landscape design strategy for a planned new dwelling replacing the existing family house. The proposals include one main house, a boat house in proximity of the Bure River and an extension to the existing double garage. An LVIA was requested despite the small scale development due to location within the Broad National Park, which affords the highest designation protected by the national and local planning framework. Furthermore, specific legislation gives the navigation of the waterways equal status with the conservation and public enjoyment of the area. Much of the proposed mitigation of the identified, negative landscape and visual effects was based on the removal of all existing ornamental planting and its replacement with a mosaic of reedbed and wetland habitat that will enhance the “natural” character of the river landscape.
