Home Street Home
Chattanooga - shortlisted
Home Street Home becomes a place to stay, meet people and enjoy art and culture. As a home, the place is composed by the relevant spaces where everyone feels safe and comforting: a welcome space, a kitchen, a living room, a courtyard and then a playroom. The whole esthetic is related to the archetype of the house: a pithed roof, made by modular wood elements with an adjustable canvas cover system, becomes the structure for the equipped wall where “light furniture” furnishes each rooms: bookshelves for book crossing activities, a community walls for events and communications, swing and climbing walls for kids, a desk for preparing food, etc. The primary purpose of the project is a re-discover of the importance of social and public activities through art, culture and relationship but also through “light” architecture and a new iconic design of a disused space.
