Flat in the Alps
Tarvisio - Udine
The 30 m2, one-room holiday home is part of a residence from the 70s, whose value resides way less in its basic architectural features than in the strict relationship it interlaces with the mountainous landscape. The flat’s glazed front façade opens widely on the valley below, while direct access to the woods is possible through the backdoor.
The stretched plan has been divided into three strips, with the living-room and bedroom separated by a “box” of servant spaces, which features a lower ceiling height and a specific selection of materials and colours. A new out door deck to the rear add to the very limited surface available and suggests new possible ways of living the flat. Internal façades are designed as simplified mono-material surfaces, with the use of full-height curtains and a floor-to-ceiling coating of wood boards entirely covering one of the longitudinal walls, virtually unifying the whole interior space.
