Bouwkunde was and will be a campus inside a campus. Significant for the campus typology is the clear identification of each function: one building for every different university device. One aim of this project is to define a threshold of density in which this specific quality of the campus can resist if compacted inside a single building. New Bouwkunde would find place in a unique “element” of round 216.000 cubic meters and 54.000 squares meters. It’s defined an “element” because it avoids any functional or formal distinction between base, shaft and top (as in the former building).
