Each intervention on the territory can’t ignore the existing potentials, in order to create new systems able to sustain each other. The project ORto reinterprets the biodiversity of Oristano, conceiving the agricultural resources, the protected areas and the city not as monofunctional and independent entities but as experimental contexts for new practices. Conceiving agriculture as a collective practice, the architectural reuse is able to activate new social dynamics: the greenhouses host didactic activities and thematic dinners; the farm residence offers cooking courses and seminars. Moreover, applying organic agriculture techniques and using renewable sources the protection of the natural resources is strongly pursued. ORto, aims to be a pilot project for the reactivation of the abandoned agricultural areas, promoting the new social dynamics and sustainable practices.
