Barrington Hotel
Wenchang
The project concerns a small hotel of 150 guestrooms and 41 guesthouses at the Wenchang city's neighborhood, facing an artificial lake, at the service of the nearby golf courses. The guestrooms, partially overlooking the lake and partially the golf course, are framed by vertical wooden boxes aligned side by side, taking inspiration from Hainan's local wooden houses covered by an oversized and enveloping roof. The peculiarity of double facing is highlighted by the protuberances of the central body, containing the lobby and the restaurants, that extends out emphasizing the entrance but avoiding a predominant front. The guesthouses reproduce the same principle suggested by vernacular architectures: a roof extended to form the side walls and the elevated floor: a shell that entirely wraps the construction and frames the two uncovered glass facade.
