The commission consisted of a new affordable housing complex in an expanding urban area of Terrassa. The project was presented as an exercise, its main goal consisting in finding the best proportion within apartments and common areas, without losing sight of the project as a whole. In contrast with the order that marks the inner distribution, the façade is dominated by variety through the various combinations of a modular pattern, in order to avoid the uniformity of the surrounding buildings. The ground floor is to be read as the “negative” of the upper floors, due to the use of slats in place of the voids in order to guarantee privacy and security to those units.
