EPO Polis
The Hague - shortlisted
Inspired by the qualities of the periodic table,
this design orders the programmatic content of
the new EPO building in a framework that
enhances the identity of each element and at the
same time demonstrates its parity with the
others.
The elements (office modules, ancillary rooms
and central facilities) and the ordering system (a
grid of lighted corridors) together form a
complex collective landscape, both indoors and
outdoors: a micro universe of work spaces and
leisure spaces . It is here that, both on a
functional and a conceptual level, the
fundamental beauty of science meets the spatial
beauty of architecture.
