IL FIUME ARTIFICIALE
La linea dei binari segna il territorio, incurante del paesaggio che la accoglie. Quando finalmente arrivano in città, i binari, oramai divenuti un largo fascio scuro e ferroso, tagliano il tessuto urbano, correndo ignari attraverso ogni forma e luogo dell’abitato, ognuna delle sue mille e mille storie.
Lo spazio compreso tra il fascio di binari ed il costruito è un luogo scavato, compresso tra margini quasi sempre irregolarmente edificati o casuali vuoti, argine ideale di un lungo fiume artificiale che taglia la città. Un vuoto lungo chilometri, negato alla vita quotidiana ma allo stesso tempo capace ad ogni semplice passaggio di un treno di divenire catalizzatore di sogni e pensieri. Il vento, la luce, il rumore, tutto qui è energia. Perché disperderla? Perché lasciare vuoto il fiume artificiale, perché non riempirlo della sua stessa energia e restituirlo alla città? Ecco allora una piccola girandola, un giocattolo intelligente in grado di assorbire la dinamica multiforme che si compie nello spazio tra i binari. Un dispositivo in realtà complesso, che pur mantenendo la leggerezza e l’ironia del gioco, diviene simbolico elemento cardine di un progetto a scala urbana.
La girandola capta i segnali provenienti dal sistema-ferrovia: una videocamera interna raccoglie le immagini, un microfono registra i rumori, mentre le pale eoliche in pvc sono coperte di una membrana fotovoltaica. I dati intercettati vengono trasferiti ad una ragnatela di cavi sospesi che invadono come un virus lo spazio fino ad allora vuoto, ne avvolgono le rive espandendosi poi fin dentro l’abitato. L’intreccio della ragnatela si condensa e si intensifica in prossimità del costruito, si incastra nella città fino ad ancorarsi ad essa. Laddove i cavi toccano terra, l’energia riesplode su ampie piattaforme, divenendo infine suono, colore, ologrammi onirici.
Il sopraggiungere del treno diventa così un evento da vivere con sguardo ingenuo e sorpreso; la ferrovia è riassorbita dalla città. Proprio lì, dove le radici del vuoto finalmente toccano il suolo, si realizza lo scambio: il treno regala energia, la città restituisce emozioni. Un nuovo paesaggio surreale prende vita, facendoci sognare mondi immaginari e al contempo riscoprire nuove visioni del quotidiano. In questo luogo della nostra città possiamo finalmente davvero sentirci a casa.

THE ARTIFICIAL RIVER
The line of tracks marks the ground, careless of the landscape that hosts them. When they finally arrive in the city, the tracks, by now a swath of dark steel, cut through the urban fabric, carelessly running towards any form and space of inhabitation, each with its own thousands of stories.
The space between the rail lines and the built fabric is a space of excavation, included between the margins of irregular construction or casual voids, the ideal floodwalls of a lengthy artificial river that cuts the city. A void that stretches for kilometres, negated by daily life and, at the same time, at each single passage of a train, capable of becoming the catalyst of dreams and ideas. Wind, light and noise; here everything is energy. Why waste it? Why leave the artificial river as a void; why not fill it with the same energy and give it back to the city? We can use a small windmill, an intelligent toy, capable of absorbing the multiform dynamic processes that take place in the space between the tracks. This instrument, in reality very complex, though it maintains the lightness and irony of a toy, it manages to become the symbolic hinge of a project at the urban scale.
The windmill captures the signals from the system-railway: a video camera collects images; a microphone records sounds; the blades of the pvc wind generator are covered with a photovoltaic membrane. The data collected is transferred to a spider’s web of suspended cables that, like a virus, invade this once void space, spilling on to its shores, and expanding into the inhabited city. The overlapping of webs becomes denser and more intense as it nears buildings; it is woven into the city , anchoring itself to it. Where the cables touch the ground the energy re-explodes in large platforms of sounds colour, and oneiric holograms.
The passing of a train thus becomes an event to be experienced, with a naïve and surprised glance; the railway is reabsorbed by the city. The exchange takes place precisely at this point; where the roots of the void finally touch the ground: the train brings energy, the city responds with emotions. A new surreal landscape is created. It allows us to dream of imaginary worlds and, at the same time, discover new visions of the everyday. In this space of the city we can finally feel at home.

LE FLEUVE ARTIFICIEL
La voie ferrée marque le territoire d’une ligne sans se préoccuper du paysage qui l’accueille. Quand elle arrive finalement en ville, la voie, alors devenue un sombre faisceau de fer, découpe le tissu urbain et traverse vite et sans discernement tous les lieux et formes d’habitat et chacune de leurs multiples histoires.
L’espace compris entre le faisceau de rails et les constructions est un fossé presque toujours bordé de constructions abusives ou fortuitement vides, rive idéale d’un long fleuve artificiel qui coupe la ville. Un vide long de plusieurs kilomètres, exclu de la vie quotidienne mais pourtant à même de devenir à chaque passage de train un catalyseur de rêves et de pensées.
Le vent, la lumière, le bruit, tout ici est énergie. Pourquoi la gaspiller? Pourquoi laisser ce fleuve artificiel vide, pourquoi ne pas le remplir de sa propre énergie et le restituer à la ville?
Voici alors une petite girouette, un jeu intelligent en mesure d’absorber la dynamique multiforme qui se crée entre les rails. Un dispositif en réalité complexe, qui tout en conservant la légèreté et l’ironie du jeu, devient le point cardinal symbolique d’un projet à l’échelle urbaine. La girouette capte les signaux provenant du système ferroviaire: une caméra interne recueille les images, un micro enregistre les bruits, alors que les pales de l’éolienne en pvc sont recouvertes d’une membrane photovoltaïque. Les données interceptées sont transférées vers des câbles suspendus qui tissent une toile d’araignée, envahissent comme un virus l’espace jusqu’alors vide et en enveloppent les rives en se répandant jusqu’au milieu des habitations. La toile d’araignée enchevêtrée se concentre et s’intensifie à l’approche des constructions, elle s’encastre dans la ville jusqu’à s’y ancrer. Là où les câbles touchent le sol, l’énergie resurgit sur de grandes plates-formes et devient enfin couleurs, sons, hologrammes oniriques.
L’arrivée du train devient ainsi un événement à vivre avec un regard ingénu et surpris; le chemin de fer est absorbé par la ville. C’est exactement là, où les racines du vide touchent finalement terre, que s’effectue l’échange: le train offre de l’énergie, la ville redonne des émotions. Un nouveau paysage surréel prend vie, en nous faisant rêver de mondes imaginaires tout en redécouvrant le quotidien sous un nouveau jour. Dans cet endroit de notre ville, nous pouvons finalement nous sentir vraiment comme à la maison.
