"OPEN LIVING IN CONTAINER"
INSTALLATION ON THE ITALIAN LIVING
CONTAINER GROUND EXHIBITION
TOKYO DESIGNER'S WEEK 2004



RESUME


> SUBJECT
The "Italian Trade Commission" presents a national prize for the realization of an installation inspired to the subject of "Italian Living".
The winning project will be built, under ITC technical supervision, inside the "Container Ground Exhibition" a Tokyo Designer's Week 2004 event.

> PARTICIPATION AND EXSCLUSION
The prize is open to Italian architects, designers and artists under 40.
The entries must be absolutely anonymous in each part (images and texts) and must comply within the given specifications. Entries that are not anonymous will be disqualified.

> REQUIREMENTS
The entries must clearly express strategy, materials e technologies for the realization of the installation completed in each part.
The installation is intended as a personal vision, original and creative, that expresses the idea of the "Italian Living". It is forbidden the inclusion of objects of current production. In case of the inclusion of new objects not yet in production designed by the participant, the realization and transport in Tokyo of those objects will be at exclusive care and cost of the winner.
Tokyo ITC has a budget of 15.000 Euro in order to build and dismantle the installation inside a container with the following dimensions:
Interior - length 5.919mm - width 2.340mm - height 2.380mm;
Opening on one of the short sides - length 2.286mm - height 2.278mm;
Height of the ground plan 160mm.
The installation will occupy only the container interior, it is forbidden to occupy the outside space and to damage in any way the container. Electric power it is provided by the organization.

> MATERIALS
The first page must include:
- 1 image (dimension 945x425 pixel) with at least a plan and an elevation or section;
- an English text with concept and description of the installation (1000 characters);
The second page must include:
- 1 image (dimension 945x425 pixel) with at least two 3D views (renderings, photomontages, perspectives, model pictures...);
- an English text with technical specifications, materials and any required tool for the installation (1000 characters).

> ANONIMITY
Each project it is associated to a random Code of 8 numbers. Jurors will see the entries (2 pages) following those codes. Inside images and texts it is not permitted to break the anonymity in any way.

9- Chieko Yoshiie (Jap), Chief Editor of "Casa Brutus".
3 Substitutes:
1- Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi (Ita), Architecture Critic;

> VOTING PROCESS
Each juror will check first of all that the submitted entries comply with the given specification and required anonymity and then will gives three votes:
1° Prize (10 points), 2° Prize (5 points) and 3° Prize (2 points).
Evaluation Criteria:
- Quality, innovation, originality and riconoscibility of the proposal;
- Clear and immediate identification of the installation subject "Italian Living";
- Technical feasibility within given budget and time
(3 weeks for project development and construction).

> PRIZE
The winner will build the installation under the ICE supervision and will be invited in Tokyo for 3 days.
